A publication failing to be unlocked can happen for a variety of reasons.
First, please check our list of supported publications and ensure that the publication you’re trying to read is listed. We maintain a list of supported publications here: What publications are supported by the Block Paywalls app?
If it is, next, try to refresh the page. This will reload the page’s cached resources in your browser and will often immediately resolve the issue. We also recommend trying to do a ‘hard-refresh’ (Shift+Command+R on Chrome and Firefox; option+Command+E on Safari) if a normal refresh doesn’t work.
Unfortunately, there are few publications that have known issues.
- If you are experiencing issues with the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), the problem may be network-related. If your network has an upstream proxy (somewhat common in large office buildings, hotels, airports, etc.), you may experience a ‘500’ error on the site’s article pages. The only good solution for this that we’ve tested is using a different Wi-Fi connection (like tethering to your smartphone).
- The search function on The Economist website doesn’t work while Incoggo is running.
Due to GDPR-compliance-related issues, some users may experience problems with select publications when browsing from Europe.
- Users have reported issues with The Washington Post (WaPo) specifically for this reason.
If the issue still persists, it may be a bug with Incoggo, and we’d really appreciate it if you could file a bug report here. We’ll do our best to follow up with you shortly!
